Document or it didn't happen - Person Centered Tech

Imahe
“Document or it didn’t happen” We’re guessing the late Roy Huggins said this 10 million times (give or take) in his 15 years consulting for his mental health professional colleagues. Documentation is something that so few clinicians get training on, whether it’s in regard to clinical work, HIPAA compliance, or security management. It’s something that so many of us have had to make up as we go, and trial and error our way through it. Europe shares drop, post first weekly gain this year - Taipei Times

Europe shares drop, post first weekly gain this year Losses in technology stocks dragged European shares down on Friday, after red-hot US inflation drove up bond yields, although a positive earnings season and strong commodity prices helped the STOXX 600 log its first weekly gain this year. The pan-European STOXX 600 index closed 0.59 percent lower at 469.57, but added 1.61 percent for the week, its best weekly showing since late December last year. Tech stocks fell 2.2 percent, the most among their peers on Friday. The sector, along with utilities, was among the worst performers this week, under pressure from elevated debt yields. Bond yields spiked after data showed that US inflation jumped this month, while hawkish comments from US Federal Reserve officials also raised expectations for a sharp rate hike next month. “Strong quarterly earnings in Europe could dampen the sell-off, but until fears about a more aggressive response from the FOMC [US Federal Open Market Committee] di...

Canadian insurers see growth potential in Asian markets as middle class grows - Sudbury News

Imahe
TORONTO — Canadian insurers Manulife Financial Corp. and Sun Life Financial Inc. said Thursday that they see significant potential for Asian markets as the region’s middle class continues to grow.  While results were mixed among specific countries, both insurers reported their Asian divisions helped prop up fourth-quarter results as they invest further in the region. “We’re scaling our business to grow across the diverse markets in Asia,” said Manulife chief executive Roy Gori on an earnings call.  Manulife saw core earnings for its Asian division up 2.6 per cent from the third quarter, though down from the same quarter a year earlier, while its U.S. and Canadian divisions saw declines compared with both the third quarter and a year earlier.  In December, the insurer started a 16-year partnership with VietinBank, one of the largest banks in Vietnam to further expand in the country. “Vietnam has significant growth potential with one of Asia’s highest GDP growth rates...

How Empires Die

Imahe
When the state / empire loses the ability to recognize and solve core problems of security and fairness, it will be replaced by another arrangement that is more adaptable and adept at solving problems. From a systems perspective, nation-states and empires arise when they are superior solutions to security  compared to whatever arrangement they replace: feudalism, warlords, tribal confederations, etc. States and empires fail when they are no longer the solution, they are the problem.  As the book  The Upside of Down: Catastrophe, Creativity, and the Renewal of Civilization  explains, when the dissolution of the state / empire becomes the pain-reducing solution, the inhabitants withdraw their support and the empire loses its grip and expires. As I explain in my new book,  Global Crisis, National Renewal , states and markets are  problem-solving structures .  These structures solve problems by optimizing adaptability and  beneficial synergies ...
